Sealy Posturepedic Reserve Series Firm
The Sealy Posturepedic Reserve Series is an affordable way to enter the premium mattress segment with firm comfort. While you will typically find sleep sets from this line in the sub $1000 range (queen price for mattress and box spring/foundation), there may be a specific model or feature which escalates into the next bracket. Generally speaking, a firm mattress provides very few “comfort layers,” or additional padding near the top of the mattress. Also, these are usually the cheapest variants of any line of beds. The lack of comfort padding is done by design for those who prefer to sleep on something similar to a carpeted floor. Imagine a nice comforter folded onto itself twice (making a total of four layers), then place this onto a carpeted floor. This would be roughly equivalent to the firmer models of mattresses available. The absolute firmest models may resemble lying directly on a carpeted floor.
The Reserve series from Sealy Posturepedic may be promoted by several different names, such as the Hope Mills, Akerman, Timber Oaks, and Kelton Place. Some of these names are unique to a specific retailer, and others are national names in this line. They all have several things in common, such as the PostureCoil spring network, the UniCased XT edge support system, and the FlameGuard quilted cover which resists bunching and migration. All of these mattresses will vary slightly in construction, but all feature the X3 inlay system which uses a firm memory foam zone in the hip area of the mattress for reduced pressure points and increased comfort.
As with many industries, one of the most important features of the Sealy Posturepedic brand is the warranty and trial period. Sleep trials are only accommodated by the manufacturers directly, but are actually provided by the retailer, and can vary in length and conditions, depending on the retailer you are shopping with. As an example, a local retailer with delivery services may offer a shorter trial period but supplement that with free or discounted delivery, and an online retailer may offer a longer sleep trial but require that you pay shipping in each direction if you return a mattress. Warranties can have dramatic differences, but are always provided by the manufacturer (unless the retailer promotes an in-store warranty which is more beneficial than the manufacturer’s warranty). On the Reserve series Sealy Posturepedic, the warranty is for 10 years and covers body impressions in excess of 1.5 inches, rips or tears in the stitching or side handles (if equipped), and broken or protruding springs (not form wires which connect the springs together) in the mattress or box spring.
