The most identifiable difference in the new Recharge Collection between models that are and are not classified as "Hybrid" is the coil count. Recharge mattresses have 800 or 850 wrapped pocket coils in the innerspring, while the Recharge Hybrid models have 1,000.
Another distinction is in the cover. Recharge mattresses have SurfaceCool Fiber, a blend that includes Tencel (also known as Lyocell), a derivative of rayon which is used for its moisture-wicking properties. It is used in performance fabrics to keep users dry and cool. Cool, because the moisture evaporates.
On the other hand, Recharge Hybrid mattress covers use the Simmons Beautyrest Evenloft® Panel. This is a super stretch knit fabric which offers extra conformity. This is to complement the memory foam, which predominates in the Recharge Hybrid sub-collection.
There are other distinctions. Some of these reflect upgrades to the lines. But first, what is in common to all Recharge mattresses, hybrid or not?
All Beautyrest Recharge mattresses rely on individually wrapped pocket coils for their support. The Beautyrest brand was established by Simmons Bedding Company to market mattresses using the new pocket coils patented by former Simmons engineer James Marshall. These coils respond independently to the sleepers' bodies to relieve pressure and support the spine. They also isolate motion so that one partner's movements do not disturb the other.
They also utilize Simmons Beautyrest's AirCool® Gel Memory Foam. This memory foam is infused with gel and structured for airflow to keep the mattress cool.
Both kinds of Recharge Collection models also share foam encasement with AirCool® BeautyEdge™ Foam. Foam encasement protects the pocket coils and keeps them in place. At the same time, it serves as edge support for the sleeping surface. The problem with foam encasement is that it can be a barrier to airflow. As can be seen in the the cutaway views of Recharge mattresses, the Beautyrest Edge foam rail is ventilated by a row of pores to let air pass through. This air can then flow through the pocket coil array and through the ventilated foams above.
Besides AirCool® Gel Memory Foam, the non-hybrid Recharge mattresses also use GelTouch® Foam, a gel-infused foam which is not memory foam. It is just above the AirCool, tempering the conformity of the memory foam. This is for users who want more resiliency than memory foam has.
To the AirCool® Gel Memory Foam, Beautyrest Recharge Hybrid mattresses add AirCool® Memory Foam and AirCool® Max Memory Foam above. This continues the cooling flow of air without adding more gel. Unlike the non-hybrid models, it continues memory foam clear to the top. This is what makes these mattresses "hybrid." The memory foam is an essential ingredient in the support of the mattress.
There are other components that individual models add, especially the higher level mattresses, such as Energy Foam, AirFeel Foam, BeautyCloud™ Memory Foam, and ContourFit™ Gel Memory Foam.
There are thirteen Beautyrest Recharge mattress models. These consititute three series and a single model: Aimee (Plush), Audrina (Firm, Luxury Firm, Plush, Luxury Firm Pillow Top, Plush Pillow Top), Meg (Plush Pillow Top, Luxury Firm), and Briana (Plush Pillow Top, Luxury Firm Pillow Top, Plush, Luxury Firm, Extra Firm).
The Beautyrest Recharge hybrid group has six models: Raegan (Luxury Firm, Ultra Plush), Nalani Firm, Marlee Plush, Lilian Luxury Firm, and Ryleigh Ultra Luxury Pillow Top.
All of these models are available through several retailers. Some retailers have their own names for these mattresses. For some, such as US-Mattress, this is to distinguish those sold online from those in their stores.
The default foundation for Beautyrest Recharge mattresses is the Triton, an upholstered slatted wood base. Suggested for use with these beds is the new Simmons Beautyrest SmartMotion Base, an adjustable bed which uses Sleeptracker technology to automatically adjust to the sleeper's needs.
All Simmons mattresses, including those in the Beatyrest Recharge Collection, are covered by a 10-year non-prorated warranty.
