One of the two new mattresses by TEMPUR-Pedic is in the TEMPUR-Flex Collection, introduced just a year earlier. That introduction made news, since TEMPUR-Pedic, famed as the leader in specialty sleep (non-coil mattresses), now has memory foam mattresses with coils, i.e. hybrids. The support core in Flex mattresses has both TEMPUR-Pedic's support foam and wrapped pocket coils. These coils are only 6" high, shorter than standard pocket coils, but taller than microcoils.
The role of these short pocket coils is to quicken the reponse of the mattress to sleepers' changes of position. This is to compensate for memory foam's slow response (due to its long memory). The idea is that as the foam adjusts to the new position, the coils will also adapt, preserving the valued conformity. The coils also allow more air to pass through, cooling the interior of the mattress. The market response to the TEMPUR-Flex concept encouraged TEMPUR-Pedic to have a Flex model in its new TEMPUR-Breeze Collection.
TEMPUR-Flex Supreme Breeze is the Breeze version of the TEMPUR-Flex Supreme. It has the same 11˝" height, but the top third of the mattress exibits the features of TEMPUR-Breeze® Cooling: PureCool™ Comfort, Cooling Cover, Ultra-Breathable Design. These were engineered to counter memory foam's tendency to accumulate heat, which until now has been the greatest criticism of TEMPUR-Pedic mattresses.
PureCool™ Comfort - This is a layer of material with phase change materials (PCMs) which is fused to the top layer of TEMPUR material (memory foam). PCMs regulate temperatures, keeping them within a specified range by absorbing heat at the top of the range and releasing it at the bottom.
Cooling Cover - The performance fabric in the cover includes fibers which covey moisture away from the top surface to where it will evaporate. This keeps the top dry and cools it at the same time.
Ultra-Breathable Design - Open-cell foam structure and ventilation are designed into the Breeze model to foster the circulation of air through the mattress. The cover is also breathable to let air go in and out. Again, cooling is the primary objective.
The TEMPUR material in the top layer of the TEMPUR-Flex Supreme Breeze is selected for its comformity. The goal is to relieve pressure on parts of the body to prevent pressure sores. It is also to evenly distribute support to keep the spine straight (see the TEMPUR-Pedic logo).
In addition to the structural features, the mattresses receive an antimicrobial treatment ti inhibit the growth of bacteria, fungi and dust mites.
Overall, the TEMPUR-Flex Supreme Breeze has a medium-firm feel.
Four foundations sold by TEMPUR-Pedic are recommended to be used with the TEMPUR-Flex Supreme Breeze. These are the TEMPUR-Flat Foundation (which is like a platform bed), the TEMPUR-Up Foundation (the head can be elevated), and two adjustable beds, TEMPUR-Ergo™ Plus Adjustable Base and TEMPUR-Ergo™ Premiere Adjustable Base. The TEMPUR-Flat is available in 9" High Profile or 5" Low Profile.
TEMPUR-Flex Supreme Breeze comes with a 90-Night Trial and 10-Year Limited Warranty from TEMPUR-Pedic. It is already available through several retailers across the country.
